Functional layer is the part of the endometrium where a fertilized egg or blastocyst will implant if conception takes place. An issue with endometrium such as endometriosis that results in an endometrial type tissue develops outside of the uterus affects an estimated 2% to 10% of women between the ages of 25 and 40. Women with endometriosis are more likely to have infertility or difficulty getting pregnant.
Poor endometrium may also be because of Chempotherapy or Radiation exposure or genital tuberculosis
