Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1.What is IVF

In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a process in which Eggs are removed from the ovaries of a woman and inseminated outside of her body. Any resulting embryo(s) are then placed in the woman’s uterus, where they can implant and develop. Please see: https:/kicbengaluru.com/the-ivf-procedure/ for more information on our IVF plan.

  • 2.What happens with the extra embryos after achieving pregnancy

At Kiran Infertility Centre, we regard all our intended parents as the most important part of KIC, and the interests and concerns of all I.P’s will always be taken into account when making these decisions. As a result, you will receive a report from the physician at KIC – Chennai on the quality and number of embryos and discuss a suitable number of embryos to be transferred. Any extra embryos can later be frozen for use. Such Frozen Embryos may either be thawed for another child or attempt again at a future date without the need to do the whole IVF procedure, or they are destroyed or used for scientific purposes after receiving written permission from IP.

  • 5.Can Fibroids Interfere With IVF?

Fibroids are benign tumors made up of fibrous tissue and muscles that grow in the uterus. The significance of the Fibroids relates not only to their size, but also to their location. Even small fibroids located inside the cavity of the uterus where the embryos need to be implanted may interface with success and need to be removed. Fibroids that do not encroach on the cavity of the uterus are generally not significant unless they are larger than 5 cm in diameter and if there are many fibroids that cause significant enlargement of the uterus.

  • 6.I Have Endometriosis: Does This Effect & Also Success With IVF

Endometriosis is a disease in which cells that typically stay confined to the cavity of the uterus generally develop on or in the ovaries and often on the surface of the Pelvic Plain outside the uterus and can also decrease the chances of natural pregnancy by about one third. Patients needing IVF AND suffering from Endometriosis often have the same chances of success as patients of the same age without Endometriosis as long as immunological factors that may affect Endometriosis are recognized and treated accordingly.

In case you have regular periods and are 30 years of age or younger, the general recommendation is to try for pregnancy naturally for a year before exploring the possibilities of fertility treatment. On the other hand, menstrual irregularity is a clear sign of irregular ovulation and would be one reason not to wait as medicine will fix most of your ovulation problems.
