Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis consists of multiple steps with each step performed by different experts in laboratories. The first step involves IVF by which embryos are produced. The fertilized embryos are then cultured for 3 to 5 days.
The second step involves embryo biopsy, the third step involves the biopsied cells placed in test tubes and these test tubes are sent to a laboratory for cell analysis. The fourth step involves freezing of the embryos through a method called vitrification. The final step involves thawing of the frozen embryo which has been certified as normal.
