An egg donation is a process where a woman donates an egg, or oocyte, to another woman in order to help her conceive. It is a type of ART (assisted reproductive technology). As per the embryologists of Kiran Infertility Centre – Chennai, a woman’s ability to donate eggs might be influenced by a number of factors/characteristics and these factors improve the chances of a successful pregnancy and lower the risk of congenital defects.
Some of the factors include-
Donors should preferably be between the ages of 21 and 30 years of age and having a healthy ovarian reserve.
Infections such as HIV, VDRl, Hepatitis B and hepatitis C should not be present in donors. They should also be free of hereditary illnesses and other illnesses which can be transmitted to the offspring
