What does it meant by ovarian response during IVF treatment?

Ovarian stimulation is one of the most crucial stages of any IVF procedure at Kiran Infertility Centre – Chennai. Patients must take certain medications from day 2/3 of the Menstrual cycle for 10 to 12 days during this phase in order to get multiple oocytes for fertilization.

In this case, ovarian response is defined as the number of oocytes produced in response to the stimulation described above. This is done in order to collect a sufficient number of oocytes in order to ensure that the embryo has a good chance of surviving when they will be frozen or transferred on day 5/6 at Blastocyst stage In case of good ovarian response large numbers of eggs can be collected and good number of embryos can be stored for future use.

Patients receiving identical medicine doses, on the other hand, can have vastly varied reactions. The total number of oocytes in some situations is so minimal that the chances of success are greatly lowered. Poor ovarian response is the term used to describe these situations.
