How Microsurgical Epididymal Sperm Aspiration or MESA is performed

MESA (Microsurgical Epididymal Sperm Aspiration) is a surgical procedure for extracting sperm from the epididymis tubes. Fluid samples are obtained (from the patient’s epididymis tubes) and examined under an operating microscope to see if there are any sperm. This procedure is quite secure.

As per the embryologists of Kiran Infertility Centre – Chennai, MESA is performed under general or local anesthesia for men who have a non-correctable congenital condition, such as the absence of vas deferens or epididymis blockage. It aids in the recovery of huge quantities of high-quality sperm that can be used in numerous IVF/ICSI cycles or frozen for future use.
