Females are born with their whole lifetime supply of gametes. The normal female ovary contains about 1-2 million oocytes (eggs) at birth. Women are incapable of producing new eggs, and the total quantity of eggs produced each month continues to fluctuate.
As per the gynecologists of Kiran Infertility Centre – Chennai, only approximately a quarter of a woman’s whole egg pool remains by the time she reaches adolescence which is around 300,000. The whole egg supply of a female will be depleted over the next 30-40 years of her reproductive life.
